Ilish Macher Kabab

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups ilish (hilsa) fish, boneless and skinless
  • 1 large potato, boiled and mashed
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions:

  1. Wash the ilish fish and remove the bones and skin. Cut the fish into small pieces and keep it aside.
  2. Boil the potato and mash it in a bowl. Keep it aside.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan or kadhai over medium heat.
  4. Add the chopped onions and green chilies to the pan and fry until the onions turn translucent.
  5. Add the ginger paste and garlic paste to the pan and fry for another minute.
  6. Add red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt to the pan and fry for another minute.
  7. Add the ilish fish pieces to the pan and fry for a few minutes until the fish is cooked through.
  8. Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool down.
  9. Add the mashed potato to the mixture and mix well.
  10. Shape the mixture into small patties or kababs.
  11. Heat a griddle or frying pan over medium heat and grease it with a little oil.
  12. Place the kababs on the griddle or frying pan and cook on both sides until they turn golden brown.
  13. Garnish with coriander leaves before serving.
